Since the beginning of time, man has always found a way to get high, but regular drugs like weed and coke are not enough for some folks anymore. Over the past few years, there has been a rise of molly and for those on a budget, K2.
The drug can be found at headshops, gas stations and corner stores, but it is labeled not for human consumption. It’s basically synthetic marijuana or dry plants sprayed with chemicals. K2 is the street name for the substance, which sells for around $5 to $10 dollars, with a joint of the stuff selling for as little as $1.
The effects of the taking it mimic those of weed, but the consequences can be deadly.
VICE goes to New York City and Brooklyn to talk to paramedics who see patients that have taken K2 and had to be rushed to the hospital, to learn what happens you do smoke it and why so many people are taking it. The drug’s popularity is only rising and for as cheap as it is to get high, it’s no wonder more and more folks are getting on. They even try to buy some, but the dealer said they couldn’t be trusted since they’ve never seen them before.
