Bang bang Denzel Washington is out taking on the mafia like a one man army.
Once upon a time, we were true stans of Denzel Washington’s work. We still are to some degree, but we don’t watch every single film he releases like we used to. That’s not his fault, he still puts out solid material. It just isn’t Training Day status. The Equalizer has potential, though. Partly due to the fact that Antoine Fuqua directed it and he was the one behind Alonzo and rookie Jake Hoyt riding around South Central.
Considering the ’80s TV show of the same name never got any burn around these parts (the movie is loosely based on the series), we can only go by what we see in the trailer and it looks like Denzel is back to being a bad ass. Coincidentally, he is fighting the Russian mob again all to help a helpless young woman. In record timing too. He took out six dudes in 19 seconds in the trailer. Not bad at all.
Hopefully it doesn’t end like it did the first time he faced the Russians.
UPDATE: Watch the official full trailer for the film, with new music from Eminem and Sia.
The Antoine Fuqua-directed film also stars Chloë Grace Moretz, Marton Csokas and Melissa Leo and is due out in theaters nationwide September 26, 2014.
