Imagine living in a world where everything was the same and there was no conflict, racism or sickness. Jonas certainly lives in that conformity in the upcoming film The Giver, based on the 1993 Lois Lowry novel of the same name. When Jonas is named the Receiver of Memory as his life assignment, he finds out there’s more to the world (and the past) than he ever thought existed. This leads to him discovering the truth as to why his forefathers sacrificed humanity for a stable society.
The film stars the likes of Jeff Bridges, Brenton Thwaites, Meryl Streep and Odeya Rush. The Phillip Noyce-directed film hits theaters August 15.
