Philip Roth’s 2009 novel The Humbling comes to life in 2015.
Over the last five years, we’ve Al Pacino sporadically appearing in films but now he’s aiming for one last run as a lead act in a few upcoming movies. One of those titles we’ll be seeing the legendary Pacino appear in, is Barry Levinson’s upcoming erotic drama film, The Humbling. After being one of the standout releases as the both the Toronto and Venice International Film Festivals this year, the forthcoming project is finally nearing a stateside the release. The movie centers washed-up actor Simon Axler (Pacino), who’s having suicidal thoughts until he finds himself in an unlikely relationship with a younger woman – that happens to be his best friend’s daughter.
With this film serving as one of Pacino’s lead roles in quite some time, he’s even purchased rights to the film, showing his passion for the upcoming project. Also starring Kyra Sedgwick, Greta Gerwig, Dianne Wiest, Charles Grodin and Mandy Patinkin – look for The Humbling to arrive sometime in 2015.
