The Real Kenny Powers [Documentary]

You’re Fucking Out!

During 1999, former MLB John Rocker pitcher made some extremely racial and homophobic comments regarding the citizens and his experiences of New York City. This would soon prompt Saturday Night Live star Will Ferrell to spoof the Atlanta Braves pitcher in a sketch during weekend update – that received praise among fans and viewers. Nearly a decade later, this would lead to HBO airing one of its most critically-acclaimed series in its network’s history, with the politically-incorrect comedy Eastbound and Down.

V.I.C.E. recently decided to put together a documentary themed from the Kenny Powers character and how similar he is to the real life counterpart in Rocker. Through general conversation in the 20-minute presentation, we find out how one Sports Illustrated interview forever changed the life of one man and what he’s done in recent years to prove he’s not homophobic or racist.
