Apparently, the truth shall kill you if you fuck with the wrong people. That actually may still be the case in real life too. For Lucas, it meant jail time and the end of his journalistic career. As much as he wanted to expose the truth, it’s easy for powerful people to make you look like a crazy lunatic if you don’t have all the facts. Hearsay doesn’t hold up in court.
Lesson learned: if you want to uncover the truth and bring down high profile politicians, be prepared to deal with the consequences.
