Watch Vince Staples’s interview on ESPN’s Highly Questionable
In a few weeks, Vince Staples continues his promo run for the debut album, Summertime ’06. The Long Beach rapper made a stop by ESPN’s Highly Questionable to briefly touch on his life story.
After giving a run through of getting kicked out of mom’s house and not graduating, the educated rapper touched on the history of urban culture connected to gangs in the city of Los Angeles – started by politic activist and local social leaders.
While its one of the only things Black and Hispanic people have culturally in California, he went to break down how the community system is family structured and passed on from generations.
Growing up in Los Angeles with idle time on his hands, he initially chose a wrong path but is looking to better the community that helped give him a positive character.
Watch more from the conversation with Dan Le Batard and Bomani Jones.
