Get ready for ‘Powerless’ in 2017!

Last year, it was announced that DC Comics was planning to step into the comedy real of entertainment next year; but now, NBC has officially green-lighted their upcoming series, Powerless.

The show is set to star Vanessa Hudgens, Danny Pudi, Alan Tudyk and Christina Kirk and will have an Office-like setting – as the first comedy set in the universe of DC Comics.

With the tagline, “It’s a superhero world, we just live in it,” the series is about the reality of normal working powerless people, who live in a world of superheroes and villains. Highlighted by insurance workers Emily, Tedd, Del and Jackie (in order from previously mentioned cast), the upcoming dark comedy is one of the stand-out shows we’re looking for next winter. Unfortunately, Batman and Superman won’t be featured in the project, but Crimson Fox has been tapped for the pilot.

Take a look at the synopsis below from Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment.

In the first comedy series set in the universe of DC Comics, Vanessa Hudgens plays Emily, a spunky young insurance adjuster specializing in regular-people coverage against damage caused by the crime-fighting superheroes. But it’s when she stands up to one of these larger-than-life figures, that she accidentally becomes a cult “hero” in her own right… even if it’s just to her group of lovably quirky coworkers. Now, while she navigates her normal, everyday life against an explosive backdrop, Emily might just discover that being a hero doesn’t always require superpowers.
