Watch the Trailer for Barry Jenkins “Moonlight” Movie

If you don’t know who Barry Jenkins is, he released the critically acclaimed Medicine for Melancholy film back in 2009. The director is back with a coming of age film titled Moonlight, which stars Trevante Rhodes, Naomie Harris, Andre Holland, and Mahershala Ali.

The film follows a boy through his childhood, teenage years and adulthood, as he figures himself out and tries to deal with everything he went through in the past. It all takes place in Miami in the 1980’s, during the war on drugs implemented by Ronald Reagan. As you can see, as a kid, he got beat up and picked on. Not to mention his crazy mother and questions about his sexuality.

The film is based on a Tarell Alvin McCraney play In Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue, and will hit theaters October 21.
