DC Comics going all out with Will Smith for ‘Suicide Squad’
DC Comics may be taking a backseat to the Marvel Universe next year; but in 2016, they have arguably the most anticipated line-up of releases in the history of their brand. Highlighted by Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice arriving on March 25, 2016, fans will be greeted by another quality release soon after with Suicide Squad. The project directed and written by David Ayer (see: Training Day) is set to start filming April in Toronto and is being targeted for a August 5, 2016 theatrical release worldwide.
Warner Bros. took to twitter Tuesday night to formally reveal Will Smith and Jared Leto would officially be joining the cast – giving the film much-needed star power for the box offices. The two add onto already confirmed actors Jai Courtney, Margot Robbie, Tom Hardy and Cara Delevingne – which is being touted as a priority project from Warner Bros. The now star-studded film adaptation directly from the popular comic book, will have many movie goers rooting for the collective super villains from Amanda Waller’s agency.
