With the forthcoming biopic All Is By My Side starring Andre 3000, PBS is preparing a documentary for the legendary rock icon. Hear My Train A Comin’ is apart of PBS’ American Masters series, directed by Bob Smeaton and will combine unseen footage and commentary from Hendrix, performances, interviews, and words from those close to him for what would be his 70th birthday. But don’t worry, if you can’t catch the documentary when it airs, PBS will be releasing it on DVD and Blu-Ray as well, with special features and performances. A brand-new 11-track album will coincide with the documentary featuring a special performance at the 1968 Miami Pop Festival, unheard by anyone.
Jimi Hendrix: Hear My Train A Comin’ has yet to receive an air-date but will arrive on shelves for purchase November 5th. Watch the trailer after the jump.
