OnSMASH Redesign: New Responsive Layout, Mobile Gestures & More!

freeonsmash3trans

Welcome to our new redesign! We took a responsive approach to benefit users with larger screen sizes & better serve our growing mobile audience. Over the years the scope of our coverage has increased along with the number of daily posts. This resulted in a lot of scrolling to keep up with new content on a regular basis, thus our decision to switch from a traditional blog format to a more efficient headline driven layout. Our new workflow should already seem familiar because it similar to most webmail platforms. Our Videos hub also received a facelift, now featuring widescreen thumbnails.

If you look at the lower right of our homepage, you will notice a new section entitled The Wire. This is were we will link relevant off-site content & breaking news via social media. Category hubs will also feature a focused version of The Wire with only links pertaining to its topic. Look for The Wire to evolve into something much more soon.

Mobile & tablet users will not only experience a vastly improved layout, they can now use touchscreen gestures (outlined below). This allows for easy one handed navigation of the site while on the move.
