Disclaimer: If you haven’t heard Meek Mill’s argument with Reverend Johnson, live on the radio, because of his campaign to boycott “Amen,” please do so before reading this post.
Protestants and Hip-Hop haven’t exactly seen eye-to-eye with each other since the start of the genre. What church would approve of N.W.A.’s “Fuck The Police” or Eminem’s “Kim?” But with society being more tolerant and less shocked by the tactics of artists today, you don’t hear much about Pastors against rap music anymore.
That was until this week. We understand both sides of the argument, but in the end, everyone’s beliefs are going to be different. Considering we’re fans of Meek’s “Amen” (and Dream Chasers 2, for that matter), we cooked up ten songs Meek could dedicate to Reverend Jomo K. Johnson, as his version of “Bible quotes” to throw back at him in hopes of reaching the Reverend and turning the volume back up on his Hip-Hop faith.
If you have any other suggestions we can add to the Rev. Johnson mix, please let us know in comments. Check out what tracks made the cut after the jump.
