Breaking down my favorite albums of the year has always been somewhat of a nightmare, even just as a thought process. It’s fairly obvious that alternative genres have constantly played a role in shaping my taste in hip-hop as a whole, whether it’s the aspect of honesty or sense of minimalism within the records. 2013 has proven to be a successful year from my perspective, with much of the attention being on the rise of Chicago artists, the growth of indie-pop, a better suited wave of electronic sound seeing light and so much more.

Although it was extremely difficult to come to a decision, I finally collected 10 of the most enjoyable albums I’ve had the pleasure of hearing. Inside the list, you’ll find a touch of indie-rock, experimental, alternative R&B, and of course my favorite hip-hop LPs of the past 12 months.

01. Atoms For Peace Amok
02. Vic Mensa INNANETAPE
