5 Things We Would Change From Dr. Dre’s “COMPTON” Album

It has been precisely one week since Dr. Dre made his grand return to the rap game after 16 years of silence with the classic 2001 album, and it seemed like the whole world was waiting to hear what he’d bring to the table on COMPTON. Not only that, he debuted the record in a futuristic way: through a streaming service (only on Apple Music) live on Beats 1 Radio, which played the album in a block of their time schedule a day before it was scheduled to release on iTunes.

Now that we’ve sat with the album for a week, listening to it almost exclusively the past seven days, we couldn’t help but to think of how it was missing something. Don’t get us wrong, the album still goes hard, especially tracks like “For The Love of Money,” “Loose Cannons” and “Deep Water,” but through all the guest appearances and signature Dre engineering, there was still something off.

We thought about what that might be for a good part of the week and decided to share what we came up with, because we know some of you may feel this way too. If you’re old Dre fans, we know some of these thoughts ran through your head as well.

If you think of anything else that may be missing from the album that we didn’t mention, make sure you let us know in the comments. We’d love to hear from you.
