Last night, 50 Cent stopped by Hot 97 to discuss his recent happenings surrounding the June 3rd release for his fifth studio album, Animal Ambition. The conversation would pilot with discussing his departure from Shady / Aftermath / Interscope, which Flex cited the elephant in the room being the in-house competition between SMS headphones and the label-based Dre Beats. After explaining his exit from the label, Fiddy went to discuss Steve Stoute’s recent comments questioning whether his aggressive content could survive in today’s music climate.

While that obviously hasn’t been the case for the Southside Jamaica native’s strategy in recent weeks, he took a few moments to briefly boast about his current independent route that’s having more success than past singles “Major Distribution” and “My Life.” A lengthy extension of the interview centered on 50 Cent helping re-launch Lloyd Banks’s career for the certified hit “Beamer Benz Bentley” and how their relationship isn’t the same in comparison to 10 years ago. Hit the jump to listen to 50 discuss the JAY Z and Drake on wax battle, Troy Ave being ahead of the curve in new artist progression, admiration for Action Bronson and more.
