A Look at the Samples Behind Biggie’s ‘Ready To Die’

Much respect to VinRican doing this classic mix!

Just days before the passing of Biggie Smalls, he conducted his final ever interview with Power 106 in Los Angeles. It’s no secret that The Notorious B.I.G. always had a deep love for California, even planning to formally relocate out to Los Angeles. However, with plans to soak up the best weather the states have to offer, eventual events hindered those plans.

To recognize the King of New York’s introduction to the world, VinRican of Power 106 decided to do a special 25-minute vinyl mix, and give fans a closer look at the samples that were used to help create his Ready to Die album in 1994. Take a look at the entire video above, including a break-down of Biggie’s main inspiration for that infamous first line on Me & My Bitch.”
