A Look at the Samples behind Jay-Z’s “The Blueprint” on 9/11

You should be playing the BP1 after this video!

14 years ago today, Jay-Z releases arguably his greatest album to date, The Blueprint. Coincidentally, with one great musical contribution, the United States and his home city of New York suffered the worst disaster of the beginning of the 21st century; when a pair of hijacked airplanes crashed The World Trade Center buildings. So, what was supposed to be the peak career highlight of his sixth studio album, he endured having to witness one of the darkest days of American history.

Power 106 Los Angeles decided to put together a video package of live mixes for the original samples behind Jiggaman’s classic LP, going through the entire 13-track affair. Although JAY will always proclaim Reasonable Doubt still his greatest work to date, the mixer says his favorite Jigga project is BP1. Take a look at the clip above, which inspired the producers behind the project Kanye West, Just Blaze, Timbaland, Trackmasters, Eminem, and Bink!
