A surprising eight years have passed since we last heard a full-length album from Dilated Peoples as a collective. Despite the hiatus, Evidence, DJ Babu and Rakaa have been busy working on their own respective careers. The early stages of last year saw the announcement of their new deal signing to Rhymesayers, with the Los Angeles based trio set to release their fifth studio album Directors of Photography later this year. Whether undertaking production from inside the camp or bringing in beats from the likes of Alchemist and DJ Premier, they sure know how to execute a desirable product, which has been the same since they started out in the early ’90s.
In light of their long-awaited return and longevity of their career, we decided to pay tribute to one of hip-hop’s most respected groups from the West, by choosing some of our favorite tracks from each of their albums throughout the ’00s.
One time for Dilated Peoples.
