A Salute To Jay-Z’s “In My Lifetime, Vol. 1”

As Iceberg Slim was ready to take over the rap game with the deaths of his friend Frank White and the great Tupac Shakur, he released In My Lifetime, Vol. 1 in the fall of 1997 as we thought it was only right to show love to this album being one of our favorites growing up. A few months back when I released the OS Top 5: Jay-Z Albums, I ranked this Vol. 1 as the top album on the list which sparked many debates in the comment section and the twitter world.

The album had some of Jay-Z most lackluster singles with a more commercial repacked Jigga in my opinion; but what made the album stick out to me was the lyrical content on the street singles with the same Jay-Z we all knew from Reasonable Doubt as he was more vicious in the wordplay department.

So with today being the 15th anniversary release week on Vol. 1 and also the first week of HOVember, take time today to pay homage to the Jiggaman one time and check after the jump for the official video singles as well as the street videos from the “Streets Is Watching” movie.
