A Salute To Kurupt and Daz

A the top of the week, we were showing love to Kurupt by flashing back to his 1998 single “We Can Freak It” and it really reminded us on how deadly Young Gotti was with the pen game. He has a whole catalog of bangers we ran through the past few days, but we can’t help but to wonder why he doesn’t get the respect he deserves. Kurupt was supposed to be the savior of the West Coast, next up after Snoop Dogg. Unfortunately, that Death Row Records quickly sunk after 2pac died and everyone jumped ship.

It wasn’t just Kurupt, though. Him and Daz were making classics as Tha Dogg Pound. The duo invaded plenty of soundtracks, dropped solo albums of their own and made their splash on the Billboard charts in the late ’90s. And it’s still DPGC to this day.

You can’t talk about OG West Coast music without mentioning Kurupt and Daz, which is why we decided to pay homage to them both by looking back at some of our favorite tracks from their catalog. Whether it was solo tracks, major album features or their collaborations as Tha Dogg Pound, their music stays on rotation often around these parts.

It’s the West Coast in us.
