Shoutout to Scarface. We’ve probably seen him more visible in 2013 than any previous year, maybe since 2008 when he released his last album Emeritus. Now we’re seeing artists claim they’re the kings of the South when they have one year under the belt, and most people are quick to forget who will remain the kind of the South forever.
For those who don’t know, Scarface holds a special place in our Hip-Hop hearts because he’s actually one of the artists we grew up listening to, next to the likes of 2pac, Nas, Snoop Dogg, Too $hort and Dr. Dre. One of the big homies put us on to The Untouchable album back in 1996 and it was a wrap after that. We went back and caught up on his previous albums and stayed fans thereafter. Shit, just the other day, we ran back a few of his albums and reminisced on the classics he has under the belt. He has plenty too.
We’re not the only ones, though. We’re sure this same sentiment runs true for plenty of people, including some artists out today. Which is probably why they have reached out to Face Mob to collaborate with the OG recently. Just in 2013, he’s been heard on Stalley and The Game & French Montana’s projects, he’ll be heard on DJ Khaled’s album, etc. In his career, 2pac, JAY Z, Too $hort, Nas, UGK, Devin Dude, all collaborated with him.
We’re sure most youngn’s aren’t up on Scarface’s catalog, but that’s why we’re here to put you on. The real folks know what time it is with ‘Face, but we don’t see him get as much props as he deserves. So today, we dedicate this post to the true king of the South and bring you some of our favorite tracks that we’ve blasted loud throughout the years.
One time for ‘Face Mob.
