Marvel’s new series Luke Cage is coming to Netflix on September 30th, and some of your favorite hip-hop producers are behind it. This week, showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker confirmed that Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Adrian Younge are scoring the show, starring the likes of Mike Colter, Mahershala Ali and Alfre Woodard.
Speaking on the show, Hodari said:
“It’s very sophisticated. I mean, it’s got a ’90s hip-hop vibe, but it’s really forward-thinking. We have Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad doing the scoring for us.”
Together, Muhammad and Younge produced “untitled 06 | 06.30.2014.” from Kendrick Lamar’s Untitled Unmastered album. We were already excited about the series, but now there’s even more reason to watch it.
