All hail the queen of H-town
News92 in Houston, an all-news radio station, aired it’s last broadcast yesterday after poor ratings and financial losses forced the station to close it’s doors.
Radio station flips are nothing new, but what makes this notable is the fact the news station flipped to an all-Beyonce format. Listeners in the Houston area can now get their dose of Queen Bey 24 hours a day on B92 FM. The station will play a selection of Beyonce music, including hits and remixes, as well as music from her time with Destiny’s Child. The entire catalog spans about 10 albums in total, going back as far as 1998.
How long will the Bey 24/7 format last? Sometimes new radio stations do that in promotion to the new switch and get new people to listen. If the experiment works (how could it not?), this may last for a while. Then again, it can be the beginning to a more urban change.
