Like we’ve heard in so much of the Arctic Monkeys‘ music over the years, our expectations were fully open to stumbling through a bar on a night out and the activities that pan out afterwards, with their upcoming fifth album AM due out on September 9th and taking influences from Dr. Dre.
The band’s latest video for “Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?” shows a hazy Alex Turner making his way through what appears to be one of his locals, not long before taking a familiar look in the mirror and realizing just how bewildered he really is. Clearly a lot has changed since growing older and taking a steadier solo approach (see: 2006’s “Riot Van”), as time takes a leap forward and we witness the journey through the streets to end the night, although he never seems to make it to his final destination.
