But the song’s so fucking dope, it’s harder not for me to blaze it.
ScHoolboy Q‘s current hit “Studio” is all over radio now and has clearly become one of the standouts from his OXYMORON album. For those that weren’t aware, Swiff D was behind the production on that record and in this talk with HighSnob for their new Behind The Track, he talks about how the song came about. He mentions the beat was birthed the day after hearing the melody in his head at the crib and after showing ScHoolboy a bunch of beats through people at Interscope, he picked that one to use.
Then went quiet for mad long and Swiff wasn’t sure what happened.
Not only did he receive the news that Q jumped on the song during a rough patch in his life months later, but when he first heard it at his manager’s office, he knew it was going to be big. It was the blessing that came after his father passed away.
Pick up Swiff D’s instrumental album Washington Park if you want to hear more of his work.
