EXCLUSIVE: The Story of Big L & 2pac Planning to Work together at Death Row

Big L, 2pac, Biggie, Death Row 1996 Story Revealed

The Most Valuable Poet. . .

This week, DJ Ron G was a guest on The Art of Dialogue to share a rare story about Big L. Before the legendary Uptown rapper’s passing, his ultimate music dream was to have a song with 2pac, Notorious B.I.G. and Jay-Z on a record together.

For those of you that know, Big L was signing with Roc-a-Fella Records days before he was killed, to likely replace Jiggaman, who was looking to retire. Unfortunately, that never took place, as a posthumous track with Big L and 2pac was eventually released a few months later.

However, at the peak of the publicized East/West Coast War, Big L was looking to lock in the studio with 2pac. At the time, Fat Joe had opened the bridge for both Makaveli and Suge Knight to travel back to New York, just days before the Las Vegas situation.

With Joey Crack’s vision, a track with 2pac and Big L would’ve happened back then at Death Row. Considering Death Row East was launched in New Jersey a month before 2pac died, the likes of Run-DMC, Wu-Tang Clan, Kool G Rap and The Boot Camp Click were all planning to join the label.
