Bobby Shmurda Leaves Major Label with Help from JAY-Z & Tru Life, Readying Immediate Project

Bobby Shmurda Leaves Epic Records

Congrats on freedom, Bobby!

Last December, Chewy was home for the first time since 2013, to celebrate the winter holiday with family and friends.  There, Bobby made a cryptic post on the gram, venting frustration with the status of his career with a major label.

Shmurda went to say, “I ain’t been in charge of my music since I was 19 years old, and I just turned 27 and honestly idk when shit dropping. So don’t ask me shit go ask them mf’s since they want to control everything!”

Originally, L.A. Reid oversaw his situation with the imprint, but he was replaced by Sylvia Rome.

Shmurda said, “I got a 70-year-old lady running my label and I love her dearly but doesn’t want to let me go at alllllllll,” Shmurda wrote of Rhone late last year. “No matter what I do I’ve been sign to them since I was 19. I did six years in jail trying to get off this label before I came home, you name one person in the industry a lable [sic] keeps sign in jail for six years???? Yeah IK IK I made them more millions than they ever gave me!!! Just let me gooo.”

Now, he’s finally celebrating his release from contractual paperwork and is free to release music.  Watching from the side and observing his situation, the streets have been patient enough for new music from Shmurda, which now looks to be releasing sometime in the next few weeks.

After dropping his most recent Shmoney single with Quavo and Rowdy Rebel a few months ago, look for more content from Bobby to emerge soon.
