Still, Free the 9!
Since their arrest nearly a full year ago, Bobby Shmurda, Rowdy Rebel and some of the GS9 members have been locked behind bars. With questions surrounding why Epic Records and why L.A. Reid didn’t put up bail money for their 2014 breakout star after their Quad Studios raid, the Brooklyn rapper is reportedly inching closer to seeing his release from Rikers Island.
According to TMZ, his legal team has a plan to have him freed from jail, as his family has stepped forward with collateral for the $2 million bond they have to post up.
With properties used as a collateral from his aunt, Bobby’s legal team has prepared a 200-page document to present to the courts tomorrow for a possible release. Prior to this fall, Shmurda plead not guilty to murder, weapons and drug charges, instead of taking the original plea deal of 8-years.
As the new trial is pushed back to February of 2016, the camp of Bobby feels he’s innocent and has put up the entire bail. Whether or not Rowdy Rebel is getting released remains to be seen, but things are looking up for the new million dollar baby. However, if convicted next year, he’s facing up to 20 years in prison after declining the plea deal.
UPDATE: A judge has denied Bobby bail again, for the third time, so the rapper will remain in prison until his trial starts next year. It is not clear as to why the court denied this latest request, but more details on the matter should surface soon.
