Bodega Bamz Interview With Billboard

Bodega Bamz was the next artist featured on Billboard’s video series as he discussed his upbringing being born and raised in El Barrio (Spanish Harlem) with a real Christian household as his caretakers didn’t allow rap in their home. P.A.P.I. went on to discuss how inspiring NYC hip-hop is which he feels it’s in a good place at the moment with the newer cats taking the torch without being disrespectful.

Whether the legends are willing to pass the torch to himself, Pro Era, Flatbush Zombies, The Underachievers, Action Bronson, A$AP Mob, Smoke DZA; the NEW New York collective are paying homage to the OG’s whether they pay respect or not. With the newer cats taking the spotlight, the older cats have been pressured to make better music, which creates more balanced quality music NY that hasn’t seen since the early 2000’s with the Dipset and G-Unit crews taking over.

He closes out with discussing staying independent to reach his peak in the underground scene; and holding out until the majors give him the proper deal with complete creative control. You can check after the jump of live performances of both “Don Francisco” and “Where Ya Horns At.”
