Alabama Shakes had quite the ride when they dropped but now, lead singer Brittany Howard is branching out on her own. Her new album titled Jaime is in memory of her sister and the first single has a funky vibe that should resonate with ‘Shakes fans. Keep an eye for her project to drop September 20, with collaborations from Robert Glasper, Nate Smith and AB guitarist Zac Cockrell. Here’s what she said about the inspiration for the upcoming effort:
“The title is in memoriam, and she definitely did shape me as a human being. But, the record is not about her. It’s about me. I’m pretty candid about myself and who I am and what I believe. Which is why I needed to do it on my own.”
She’ll be on tour for the next few months, so if you want to check her out live, this is your chance to do so before she embarks on the album tour. Dates are below.
