Chance The Rapper on Telling Kanye West That He Wanted to Stay Independent

Chance The Rapper has had a groundbreaking 2016, and he’s done it all as an independent artist. His Coloring Book mixtape, collaborations with Kanye West and worldwide tours have all made up the incredible year he’s had.

In a new ABC News segment, the Chicago rapper talks about his decision to stay independent. “It’s not easy at all. Definitely not telling Kanye. It’s definitely hard keeping that resistance, but I wanna teach people that it’s doable without,” he says about not signing to West.

He also talks about gun violence in Chicago and sharing his relationship with God through music.
