De La Soul were recently in London leading up to the release of their new album And the Anonymous Nobody. Posdnuos, Dave and Maseo stopped by BBC Radio 1Xtra for an interview with Trevor Nelson, where they talked about their old emcee names, first and best rhymes from themselves and favorites from KRS-One and 2Pac.
Right at the end of the chat, they were asked whether hip-hop is dead. “In my opinion, the current state is redundant,” Maseo says. “Everybody’s the same, everybody’s doing what the next man is doing, when that wasn’t okay,” he said reflecting on now and back then.
