Boasting an incredible line-up as always, BBC Radio 1 has invited some of the most talented acts to their leading Essential Mix series throughout the course of 2013 already. Last night saw the familiar faces of Disclosure taking to the booth and delivering some of their current favorite tracks, arriving after the success of a number of huge singles and their number one debut album, Settle.
Starting off by explaining how their career started approximately four years ago, the duo gave further insight into their love for clubbing and the drive that pushed them onto heading into the music industry, with inspiration coming from the likes of Skream, Benga, James Blake and more. Many will know that their performances on stage include live instruments and notable vocals, but the form of producing more music and making a better name for themselves put the brothers onto providing acclaimed DJ sets across the world.
The mix includes just about everything that helps develop their sound as a whole; starting off with a J Dilla tribute with artists such as Slum Village, Vic Mensa, Q-Tip and Gang Starr, then moving onto the likes of Dusky, Paul Woolfood, Hannah Wants and George FitzGerald to set the deep house/techno tone for the rest of the two-hour set.
