RELATED: Star Reveals DJ Akademiks Was Fired from Complex & Airs Out Entire Situation
Yesterday, Joe Budden waited an entire week to address the breakup of his podcast. While Mal from Roc-a-Fella was the only one to send out a subliminal message through social media, Rory has been quiet on the entire situation. Joey went to say that he felt there was serious animosity, after watching an episode last week when Rory said they weren’t friends. Rory went to mock Budden with bringing his frustration to the public, saying they don’t even get snacks (see: first video below).
In the audio version, we felt they were joking; but on the video re-watch, we could see the animosity on both sides. We felt something was going to happen at that episode, as Rory joked about wanting to throw hands with Buddens. Before all of this went down, Akademiks and Rory had a very public situation, that led to Rory leaving a message in Ak’s mailbox. Lil Ak claimed that there was an alleged threat made to him, as he welcomed anything else happening.
However, before taking it there, he decided to fight Rory back another way, causing his engagement and relationship to end with eye-raising information sent. From that point forward, Rory has never been the same on the show and cannot do anything. Last November, our guy Star confirmed Akademiks was fired from Complex and did not quit; after exposing paperwork in a show, he went viral for.
We still did find that odd, even after Akademiks put faith in the that popular platform after turning down a show with Buddens on REVOLT TV. Many believed that Ak should’ve left with Joey in 2018, after the public fallout from Everyday Struggle. Now, it’s being brought to our attention, that there’s a possible reunion being discussed. This hasn’t sat well with either Rory or Mal, who will never be friends with Akademiks.
Although nobody has died, obviously, lines were crossed, when Ak brought Rory’s family into the feud. For a person of Budden’s stature, we do find it insane that he would still consider working and having a friendly relationship with his former co-worker Ak. Even if it’s for a bag, we would never work with anybody that our friends have issues with. Over here, that never happens, period. So, stuck in the middle, Buddens is of the belief that Rory and Mal will be returning to the show.
We’re hopeful that happens, as he looks for suitable replacements for the immediate future after interim hosts Ice and Savon go back to their jobs. If Rory and Mal don’t come back, we would be shocked if Buddens doesn’t reunite with Ak. This will lead to them having creative control, after developing a base on Complex three years ago. However, our advice to Joey, would be stay with your day-one friends, Rory and Mal.
Judging by the negative feedback on social media and his YouTube page, those fans won’t be following you for Ak. Livingston Allen has an entirely different audience that don’t care about the culture of hip-hop, nor knowing anything about the history. This is something you’re prevalent in, and currently hold the no. 1 spot over anyone in the rap media world.
People tune in for your opinion on certain topics, but more so, the friendship and bond you have with both the Roc-a-Fella boys. As far as Akademiks, we’re not mad at you for getting to the bag using this 48 Laws of Power and infiltrating the opposition. Very impressed if they never get back together.
