We love hearing stories from back in the day. With Dilated Peoples releasing their Directors of Photography album today, DJ Babu broke down an incident that went down while touring with Gang Starr and Rage Against The Machine.
Before Gang Starr’s set on each of the dates, DJ Premier would disguise himself in a mask to hide his identity as he prepared the setup. At one of the venues, Babu saw a kid run past security, climb the ramp and punch Premo. After the two started boxing, the entire Gang Starr foundation dragged him backstage, and god only knows what happened from there. Luckily, the kid probably felt nothing after the amount of drugs he took that night.
Moral of the story: Don’t get on the wrong side of Premo.
