We’re used to hear that FUNK whenever DJ Quik is on a beat, but the man has range production wise. On “Black Friday,” the OG is getting introspective about this life and relies on a more soulful backdrop to drop the jewels. He definitely dug deep on this one, confessing 2pac haunts him and what he’d do if he was still alive. He also spoke on what’s going on in our society with stop-and-frisk, the media and police brutality.
He had this to say about this record:
“I wrote this piece because I don’t like the tumultuous air surrounding Black People. Someone had to speak up for the African American community on this Black Friday and I elect Me to do so.”
