After serving for a year behind bars thanks to pleading guilty for a tax fraud charge, DMX will be released from jail starting tomorrow.
Earl Simmons was supposed to go in around March of 2018, but he failed a drug test for Oxycodone and cocaine and skipped out on court-ordered drug treatment and was jailed in January. Though his release date is set for the 27th, but federal prisoners may be released earlier if their day falls on a weekend.
Murray Richman, DMX’s layer, had this to say of his release:
“I spoke to him; he’s very happy. He’s looking forward to being home. He’s never been hotter than now — people have been seeking him out all over.”
Following his prison stint, he will be supervised for three years.
Hopefully he doesn’t get caught up in any more charges and can stay a free man for a while. New music is on the way, so stay tuned for that.
