This won’t end well. . . .
In July, Drake and OVO Sound confirmed that Certified Lover Boy would be releasing before the end of summer. While issuing a warning out to the competition, it’s believed that the project will be arriving anytime this month. Coincidentally, Kanye West’s DONDA album has also been scheduled to release this month, as it received multiple date changes.
Many believed it would be released last Friday, following an original date scheduled two weeks ago; but Apple Music has the project now listed for August 15th. With Drake’s LP ready, Yeezy’s project is still not finished, with most believing the Chicago musician is waiting for The Boy to make his announcement first. We’re not sure why this would be a move made by one of the parties, but it’s not going to end well.
If this happened, it would be the biggest release date in the history of the streaming era, as over a billion plays would be generated through both projects. Previously, a similar situation happened in 2007, where Kanye West’s Graduation battled 50 Cent’s Curtis album. Kanye would defeat 50, which changed the landscape of music with street rap getting ushered by people in power from the mainstream.
Currently, Drake has multiple music videos already recorded and has been boasting CLB as his best work to date. The original January delay was pushed back due to his injury, where he legitimately had to learn how to walk again. We’re under the impression the OVO Sound team has the entire rollout already planned this time, which won’t be like the Scorpion that happened when they had embarked on a rap war.
Karen Civil recently revealed that both rappers are no longer at odds, but a new interaction with Don C and OVO today has something otherwise. This imminent battle isn’t going to be favorable for one party, as you can let us know in the comments who you think would win.
