It’s not every day we get to see what goes on in the mind of Eminem, especially since he lives life so secluded from everything. Every once in a while we get a peek into what makes him Slim Shady and/or Marshall Mathers, but not this in depth.
He just joined Rap Genius as a verified account earlier and went on a rampage of annotations, giving another perspective of some of his favorite songs and classic records from his catalog. He told stories from the making of 8 Mile, how he came up with certain tracks and even commented on other people’s records (see: PRhyme).
We browsed through and picked out the five best stories to bring to you in case you were interested. Expect to hear first-hand accounts about records like “Stan,” “Renegade” and the final 8 Mile battle as you read through. Hopefully he annotates more as time goes on.
