A few days ago, we had the pleasure of attending ScHoolboy Q‘s OXYMORON listening section at Sonos Studio in Hollywood to get a preview of the album. Many media outlets gathered in excitement to hear what Top Dawg Entertainment’s next star had in store, taking pictures in front of the album cover with enlarged ScHoolboy Q heads and predicting which track would be the hardest.
Q finally went up to the stage and introduced himself, telling a few jokes for the crowd to break the ice. Once the tracks started playing, folks heard anticipated gems like the 2 Chainz-featured record produced by Mike WiLL Made It, “Los Awesome” produced by Pharrell and the next single from the album. Not to mention “Blind THreats,” and other notable tracks from his major label debut. Everyone in the room stopped what they were doing and paid undivided attention to the music blaring across the speakers.
The reaction from certain records were more than others, but nobody left the room disappointed. Although we didn’t get to hear every song, you can definitely feel the tone of the project, as well as back stories regarding some of the songs.
For those who weren’t there, we have come up with five things you should expect from the February 25 release of OXYMORON.
