Watch part 1 of Future’s interview with Mass Appeal!
Before Future became one of the biggest names in music this decade, he was just a protégé of the legendary Dungeon Family collective of OutKast and Goodie Mob. With Andre 3000, Big Boi, CeeLo Green giving him a stamp of approval as the future of music back in the day, his cousin Rico Wade, producer of the family, told him to take his skills serious at legitimately having a career in the game.
While the young rapper had one foot in and the other out in the streets at the time, the two open up on how Future decided to just move into the dungeon full time – citing various hip-hop and R&B acts coming through and them knowing him as meat head back in the day. Hendrix went to touch on how DJ Esco going to jail helped their careers, being the inspiration for 56 Nights with 808 Mafia.
Watch above, as the two family members discuss how Future’s run brought new life to the dungeon, returning to his Atlanta roots and more in the rare conversation with Mass Appeal.
