G-Unit Stops By The Hot 97 Morning Show

Still promoting the recently released The Beauty of Independence EP and their forthcoming follow-up The Beast Is G-Unit project, 50 Cent and his camp made their return to Hot 97 as a collective for the first time in years. Being that the original G-Unit reunion went down at the station’s Summer Jam concert over the summer, Lloyd Banks revealed making the initial call to get the ball rolling for them aggressive sounds we’ve been missing.

50 Cent discussed the camp is enjoying their current independence to release whenever they want, as opposed to doing a 20 week radio cycle prior to a major label release. Yayo would briefly open up why The Game was not involved with the reunion, citing his ties to Jimmy Henchmen and not knowing how deep the street ties were on both sides. Topics also discussed during the interview was Bobby Shmurda’s viral success for “Hot Nigga” and the similarities they felt seeing previous efforts from Chief Keef in his “Don’t Like” music visual having fun in the hood.

Young Buck opened up his legal situations a from a few years ago and also revealed himself and Kidd Kidd can have a complete conversation in southern slang without anyone else in the unit understanding them. One interesting note, however, was Rosenberg comparing Fifty & G-Unit to the legendary Eric B. & Rakim for the new generation of hip-hop fans.
