Illa J has announced that he’ll be releasing his new album titled John Yancey on November 30th via Jakarta Records. First off, the Detroit rapper is sharing a video for the first single, “Tokyo.”
“It makes sense that it ended up being called John Yancey because for so long in my career I felt like I was tryna be me and my brother, and I’m finally at peace, like I’m not J Dilla’s younger brother Illa J, I’m James’s younger brother John,” Illa says.
The album is entirely produced by Calvin Valentine, the man behind Illa’s last album, Home.
