‘Tales’ season 2 on October 10th!
Over the last few years, Irv Gotti has quietly been working his way back into the mainstream light. From generating general public interest with his Tales series and readying an official Murder Inc. biopic series, Mr. Gotti is even planning a return to the music game.
Last summer, he reunited back up with Kevin Liles and Lyor Cohen at 300 Entertainment to ink Murder Inc. Records. Speaking of which, the Hollis music legend was guest on Everyday Struggle earlier this weekend to share some gems and his knowledge of the industry. Irv seemed extremely intrigued about the occasion, making it for one of their best visits in the series thus far.
However, one segment that caught our attention, was him breaking down the power that Birdman and Slim really have behind the scenes at Universal Records. In the late ‘90s, Ca$h Money Records inked their first $100 million-dollar deal with the majors, and grabbed a 90/10 split with the label.
Considering Baby owns all masters from YMCMB (see: Drake, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Mannie Fresh, Hot Boys), this is an insane amount of money the New Orleans entrepreneur is taking home.
Watch above, as Irv breaks down the rare deal, and why he believes Birdman and Tunechi really need to have a sit-down and settle their money issues before it’s too late.
Disclaimer: Skip to 36:00 for the Lil Wayne and Birdman stuff.
