J. Cole Reveals Crooked Smile Visuals Were Inspired By “Fruitvale Station”

Over the weekend at iHeartRadio festival, J. Cole talked to MTV News about the creation process for his most recent music visuals released last week, Crooked Smile”. Cole opened up about shooting a rough draft music video for the single during his promo run over the summer, but wasn’t content with label-forced product.

After seeing Fruitvale Station over the summer which was based on the death of Oscar Grant, he wanted to use his platform to share stories similar to the film. Cole connected with a tragedy 3 years ago, after 7-year-old Aiyana Stanley-Jones was struck by a Police officer multiple times being an innocent bystander. You can check after the jump for more of J.
