You may have heard Jamila Woods‘ voice on tracks from Chance The Rapper and Macklemore, but now she’s stepping out with her debut solo album. Out today on Closed Sessions, Heavn consists of 13 tracks from the singer and poet from Chicago, with features from Chance, Donnie Trumpet, Noname, Saba and Lorine Chia. “HEAVN is about black girlhood, about Chicago, about the people we miss who have gone on to prepare a place for us somewhere else, about the city/world we aspire to live in,” Jamila says about the project.
Production is handled by oddCouple, Kweku Collins, Carter Lang, Nate Fox, Peter Cottontale and more. Stream and download the whole thing below.
