For the second consecutive week, Jay-Z holds the throne at top of the Billboard 200 charts with his new album “Magna Carta Holy Grail.” Down 76% from his 528K week one sales, Jay managed to still push out 129K totaling his sales to 657K in physical copies.
Hov now becomes the first rapper to retain a no. 1 spot since the release of Tunechi’s “Tha Carter IV” back in 2011. J. Cole who recently surpassed Kanye West’s “Yeezus” in total album sales or his “Born Sinner” finally goes GOLD after 5 weeks moving over 27,000 units to bringing his total to 506K sold. Ace Hood also charted this week on the list racking in 34,000 copies of his new album and Ca$h Money Records debut “Trials & Tribulations” slightly up from his 2011 release “Blood Sweat + Tears” which moved 26,000.
Whether Jay Z will have another week of the no. 1 spot remains to be seen, but for now we will just have to watch the throne.
