The Oscar-winning duo, Ron Howard and Brian Grazer have been tapped to produce and direct a documentary for the upcoming Jay-Z’s “Made In America” musical festival in Philadelphia next month. Co-headlined with Pearl Jam, the Jay-Z-curated Budweiser Made in America Festival will also feature performances by Jill Scott, Odd Future, The Hives, Maybach Music Group, Skrillex, Drake and more. In an interview today with Page Six, Brian Grazer stated
“The festival showcases 20 pre-eminent artists that speak to the new generation. I am producing the film with Steve Stoute and Jay. Ron is directing. It is going to be born through Jay-Z’s perspective . . . how he puts the event together.” Grazer added, “Jay stayed the king for a very long time . . . I can’t even begin to explain how he is capable of remaining relevant. He is a phenom, like a musical Michael Jordan.”
The 2-day 2012 “Made In America” festival goes down September 1-2, which will benefit the United Way.
