Following Apple’s recent purchase of Beats By Dre for a breathtaking $3 billion, it’s been announced that Jimmy Iovine has officially left Interscope, and will be replaced by John Janick. The deal will go through at the end of the summer, marking the end of Iovine’s time at the label after founding the company back in 1989, making it one of the most forceful industry outlets in the world. Jimmy states that Janick has exactly what it takes to be in charge of Interscope, having started his own label and knowing how to handle the true business and artistry of such a huge roster.

This further confirms reports that Jimmy will be shifting over to Apple to either serve as consultant for the brand or have an executive position after their purchase of Beats Electronics. Either way, he will be bringing his industry contacts and expertise in marketing to help Apple compete with streaming against Spotify/Samsung.

Interscope Records is the machine behind artists and labels such as Eminem, Dr. Dre, Death Row Records, Aloe Blacc, Disclosure, Timbaland, ScHoolboy Q, Robin Thicke, Shady Records, Star Trak Records, Cherrytree and a multitude of others.
